Introducing yourself in Russian

We all want to make a good first impression when we meet somebody new. Learning how to introduce yourself is an essential part of learning how to converse in Russian

Below we’ve introduced the most of common phrases you’ll need to introduce yourself or start conversation. Take a look and get ready for the next time you meet somebody new!

In Russian Language, there are two ways of addressing other people: formally (ВЫ) and informally (ТЫ).  Which form will be used depends on the level of relationship with a person, age difference, and length of acquaintance.

ТЫ (You) is used in more casual setting, among  friends, family members, children who are well acquainted:

–         Здравствуй (Hello)!

–         Привет (Hi) !

ВЫ (You) is used in a formal setting, among strangers, older people, officials, or group of people:

–         Здравствуйте (Hello)!
