RUSSIAN LANGUAGE PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN

Academy of Russian Language offers a wide range of Russian Language courses for 4 to 17 old children from Elementary to Advanced Level. Our courses are designed to develop all found language skills – speaking, listening and understanding, reading and writing – with an emphasis on speaking and understanding. Children programs are intensive and engage leaners through language games, music, plays, dance, arts and crafts.

Academy of Russian Language offers the following programs, both On-Campus and Online, or Hybrid.

Russian Language Program for children 4 – 5 years old

Language immersion is the most efficient and effective way for children to gain fluency. This program is for children 4-5 years old who are start learning to read and write in Russian. Our program introduces kids to the fundamentals of Russian, using words and themes integral to kids’ daily lives such as greetings, emotions, family members, animals, colors, shapes, counting, foods, action and description words.

Russian Language Program for children 6 – 8 years old

The program focuses on speech development, vocabulary building, early literacy and early writing skills. Our program introduces kids to the fundamentals of Russian, using words and themes integral to kids’ daily lives such as seasons, weather, clothing, time, days and months, places to go, rooms, toys, sport activities, helpful words, action and description words. Children participate in reading and discussions of short poems and stories, as well as engaging in role playing and are encouraged to communicate throughout the class.

RUSSIAN LANGUAGE PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH

AP Russian

The AP is considered the High School standard of academic excellence in the United States and is increasingly accepted as a quality university entrance qualification in Europe and the rest of the world. 

Advanced Placement (AP) Russian Language is an intensive two-years college-level course. The course equips students to think and write analytically through various models of discourse (speaking and writing). Essential vocabulary and grammar skills are presented through the use of the target language. Students will role-play, practice listening skills, and learn to perform a variety of language functions such as speaking, listening, writing, questioning, describing, and expressing opinions in Russian. 

By the end of the course, students will have obtained and developed the skills necessary to earn a passing score on the AP Russian exam administered by the College Board. Most US colleges and universities offer credit or placement for successful AP Russian examination results.

AP Russian Exam

To prepare for the AP Russian exam a student must attend PRE-AP and AP Russian Programs provided by the FINECC/Academy of Russian Language, to pass midterm and final exams with grade A or B+. At the completion of the course, students are encouraged to take the AP Russian Language Exam.

The AP Russian examination consists of four subtests:

All the components of this exam are analyzed and practiced, with an emphasis placed on mastering advanced skills in oral communication, listening comprehension, grammar structures, reading comprehension, and essay writing.

PRE-AP Russian / Non-Credit

This preparation course is designed for middle school students who wish to prepare for the Progressive Russian Language Course (PRCL).

This course introduces the basic elements of the Russian language within a cultural context. Emphasis is on the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students will expand their vocabulary and develop oral proficiency and writing skills through oral practice, class presentations, discussions, characters and paragraph writing, films, language lab, and culture and history. 

Previously learned grammar from the beginning levels is reviewed and basic level grammar is introduced. Students learn more advanced and specific vocabulary terminology and are expected to demonstrate their language skills through presentational and interpersonal speaking assignments. Students should be able to comprehend and respond to spoken and written Russian as well as demonstrate cultural awareness. 

Successful completion of Pre-AP Russian will qualify students to advance to AP Russian.

We offer a progressive English language program for kids. It begins from an absolute beginner to advanced level. Children develop core knowledge in the use of English language vocabulary, grammar, spelling and sentence structures.
